The firm I built.

Dickson Associates CPA: Certified Public Accountants accredited by ICPAR, ICPAU, RRA and BNR, serving institutions and enterprises across East Africa.

Why I founded it

Because the audits were never the problem.

I spent my early career auditing institutions and finding the same things: weak records, missing minutes, controls that existed on paper. The audit was not the problem. The institution had never been built to pass one.

I founded Dickson Associates to work on both sides of that line: the statutory work a regulator requires, and the institutional building that makes the next audit uneventful. Today the firm operates with a wider East African professional team.

What the firm does

The firm's practice.

Where the compliance work lives. This site is where I write about the governance work behind it.

Audit and assurance

Statutory audit and assurance for SACCOs, MFIs, cooperatives, companies and NGOs.

Tax advisory

Compliance, planning and representation.

Bookkeeping and accounting

Outsourced finance functions and reporting.

Consulting and capacity building

Governance, financial management and institutional strengthening.

Two doors

One relationship, whichever door you use.

Most clients come to one of us and end up working with both. A governance diagnostic reveals the accounting needs. An audit reveals the governance gaps. Because the relationship runs through me either way, nothing falls between the two.
